Secure Passenger Movement of Home Office Detainees throughout UK
National Contract
G4S were awarded the national contract for escorting detainees and Asylum Seekers between Airports, Sea Ports, Detention Centres, Courts, Medical Centres and other secure locations across the UK. Conducting over 75,000 prisoner movements per annum. A sophisticated approach to transport scheduling was needed due to the complexity of passenger movements and the high level of escorting compliance necessary.
Escorting Rules
Rules that governed escorting of passengers were very detailed. Minimum of two escorts per passenger, ethnicity, gender, age, medical and behavioral issues of passengers would affect the type of vehicle used, the number of escorts on duty and the mix of qualifications the escorts would need to possess. These rule had an influence on vehicle scheduling and duty rostering on a day to day basis.
Driver PDA
Vehicles were fitted with PDA’s to provide real-time transport requests to drivers and for drivers to inform the control centre of arrivals, cancellations and the performance of escorting duties whilst passengers were on board.
Vehicle Tracking
All vehicles were tracked and provided real-time information on expected arrival times at locations. This allowed lateness to be monitored and customers to be informed."When we implemented LT Enterprise, it gave us the competitive advantage needed to win not only the Detainee Contract but also an additional 'Transport Plus' contract from the Home Office. A key part of this win was that LT provided us with a complete web booking and tracking capability that we were able to demonstrate to our client during the bidding process."
