Logistic Support Operations
Fleet Support Ltd provide transport facilities management at HM Dockyard, Portsmouth. Fleet Support is a joint venture company between BAe Systems & Vosper Thorneycroft. One of Fleet Support's many contracts is to manage a wide variety of logistical support operations under contract to the Ministry of Defence at HM Naval Dockyard, Portsmouth. The fleet managed here comprises some 500 vehicles.

Improve Utilisation
Prior to the implementation of LT software, a number of different methodologies were used to manage operations. Consequently, Fleet Support faced difficulties in deriving overall management information about fleet performance, and lacked the tools that would enable better utilisation of available vehicle fleet. For example, trucks that were utilised for freight deliveries one day could not readily be used for driver training on another day since there was no visibility between the two systems.

Diverse Transport Strands
One of the key elements in choosing the LT software was the flexibility inherent in its data structures, enabling it to accurately model all of their diverse transport strands.

Bringing Transport Together
Now, a number of previously diverse strands of transport operation have been integrated onto one control system using LT enterprise edition2.

Having achieved a fully integrated solution, Fleet Support are now in the position to work with the MOD to improve fleet utilisation, manage costs and develop Key Performance Indicators.
FSL are now able to compete more competitively for other contracts, and are looking forward to continued business growth.
