Camden,
recently
awarded
a
Comprehensive
Performance
Assessment
rating
of
?Excellent?,
is an
inner
city
London
borough
with a
diverse
population,
and
faces
many
challenges
in
providing
a
transport
service
to its
community.
Camden
Transport
Services
(CTS)
provides
the
transport
needs of
internal
and
external
clients
for:
Children
in need
and/or
looked
after
including
those
with
disability
and/or
special
educational
needs.
Elderly
people
and
adults
with
disabilities.
Residents
that
find it
difficult
to use
mainstream
public
transport
independently.
Customer
First
CTS?s
strategy
is to
integrate
all
transport
functions
into an
effective
and
efficient
customer
centric
service.
The
introduction
of a
Information
and
Communication
Technology
solution
was
identified
by CTS
as a
vital
means of
achieving
these
strategic
aims,
particularly
in three
key
areas:

Management
of
resources
&
finances
-
Tracking
vehicles
-
User
interaction
and
access
Control
Centre
Following
a
procurement
process
undertaken
in 2005,
in
January
2006
Logical
Transport
were
awarded
the
contract
to
supply
CTS with
the LT
?enterprise
edition
2?
solution
to
manage
all CTS
operations.
Mobile
Communications
Full
communications
and
vehicle
tracking
facilities
for all
of LBC?s
passenger
fleet,
currently
some 55
vehicles
will be
provided.
PDA's
installed
in
custom
built
secure
cradles
and GPS
receivers
will
utilise
the LT
Mobile
communication
module
of LT
enterprise
edition
2. The
mobile
solution
provides
optional
driving
instructions
by
seamlessly
integrating
with
proprietary
Navigation
Software.
A five
year
customer
support
package
deal has
also
been
reached.
