Passenger services.

BCC employs some 2500 employees with an annual '45 million turnover. LT enterprise edition2 solution plays a crucial role in the support and delivery of cost effective efficient transport services.

Control Centre Solution

Following a procurement exercise undertaken in 2004 for a Passenger Transport Routing and Invoicing System, BCC awarded a five year contract to Logical Transport to implement a 'control centre' solution for all education and social services transport across the City. This multi-phase project sees the deployment of LT 'enterprise edition 2' to manage both the 65 strong in-house vehicle fleet and 50 contractors providing hundreds of vehicles for the varied regular and ad-hoc passenger routing requirements. In addition, the administration of pupils using scheduled bus services will be managed.

Key Requirements
A map based routing system able to plan and compare routes by both the fastest, most direct and most cost-effective journeys.

Achieve an effective service delivery and high vehicle utilisation by matching vehicles, drivers and escorts to routes.

Deal effectively with multiple supplier rates, and the calculation and re-charging of individual client journeys to the appropriate purchasers' cost centre.

Ability to interface to a multiplicity of existing IT systems using XML within BCC including core education, social services, financial, Land & Property Gazetteer and GIS systems.

Future Plans
Looking to the future, BCC have a number of expansion options available 'out of the box' including vehicle tracking and data communications, web deployment to both clients and suppliers, and the potential to add other service areas into the system e.g. property maintenance
